Evidence LXIV: Polished Turd

Feeling slugish on a Sunday, finally made it out the door with Hoss to meet Dickborg and check a Westside bowl we skated yeas ago, on New Year's Day. It's now a permission. The front and back yards are completely littered with beer cans and dog shit, but the guy is really nice. On the way there we scoped the above piece of shite.
Whoa, strong words for Jessica, and a problem with spelling. Kids these days.

Evidence is mounting.
Love these Paddock skimmer covers, and got one at home.
Hoss and I struggled. It wasn't that hot, just weren't into it. But he did lay into a decent backside on the sidewall.
Dickborg does the roll in.

Weekend!

Man, I am ready for the weekend. One of my favorite NYC protopunk bands the dictators will help you get there too.

Evidence LXIII: Quickie

Was gonna go roll a park with Ham'n'Cheese, but Dickborg called and said to head west. So we did. Nice little Anthony, cool tiles, coping asking for it, decent bowl. Fun session, Ham'n'Cheese had lights set up, we made it a go and got the hell outta there.
Courtman crushes the box.
Dickborg never quite held on to the FSG the whole way, but this is what it would have looked like.

Evidence LXII: Of Course We Skated It

So, uh, yeah, more blagging (lagging at blogging), but partly due to the fact that I left my camera at Dickborg's the other day. So let me answer your first question: yes, we went back and skated the pool that had the net over it.
Here's Hoss cleaning up the dust.
Barney got a grinder, with the weird dude in the background. Dude was about 25, tall and skinny and definitely methed up. He stumbled through the back door, and said, "Do you know you're on federal property?" A question as to if he worked for the federal government let us know he didn't care much. But he had a bloody nose. "How do I stop it?" he asked a couple of times, before walked toward the back, tripping on the net from the pool and eating shit. He said he was there as an inspector to check for lead paint. We did our grinds and got the fuck out.
Next day looked at this one with Hoss and Craig, but we got there too late. Skated the aqua pool again -- see a couple posts ago.
Today went back and got the trinagle net pool. Craig did a grind, and blogspot turned the photo sideways for some reason.
Scoped a second pool, green water, but a piece of shit.
Third pool of the day, and the evidence was mounting.
Hoss got up on the gnarly cool deck.
Video proof: Hoss at the trinagle net.
And Hoss dealing with some gnarly cool deck.

Evidence LXI: Skateboarding sometimes involves not skateboarding

Hoss and I checked this pool a year or so ago. Hoss, the silversmith with the silver tongue, knocked, but the old lady shut us down. We don't forget, however, so we went back the other day to see what the deal was. Pool still empty, and we knocked on the door. What could be the harm in jsut going and checking it out? So we did. Thing's a piece of shit slam pit. Good to know it's worth no more effort. Prior to scoping this, we went to skate one of the ones from the previous post, but nosy neighbors were out. All I gotta say is, in the words of the immortal Sloppy Sam Batterson, sometimes skateboarding involves not skateboarding.

Hoss called with a new one, however. We went to check it, and found the spider web over it. This is the second pool I've seen with this set up. We pulled the net back a little, and got to work. Some crappy water, but not too bad, and a ton of leaves. It needed a scrub, but the water was turned off. We scoped the nearby church, but their faucets had keys. We found a neighbor who wasn't home, filled up our buckets, headed back and scrubbed. By then it was dark, but we'll be back to shred.

Evidence LX: Two outta three, sort of

After much lagging and an hours-late departure, we head straight to a high profile and killer bowl, one that we hit last week. The rain from earlier in the week had all evaporated, and the pool just needed a minor sweep. On roads with decent traffic, we were exposed on the North and West sides to cars and pedestrians. Nothing to do but barge for 15 minutes and split. Smooth surface, good tile lip, nice right side death box, killer shallow pocket. We decided to push our luck and stay for 20, but the same nosy neighbor from last time pushed us out. We made a clean getaway.

Evidence mounts.

Joe Dirt gets a FSG over the death (although I didn't know he got a little help from his hand on this one.

Next to a slightly lower profile pool that required a high profile, commando style raid through back yards. We made it there pretty well, and cleaned up the dirt. To the East, a neighbor had some loud music going -- I though that would save us as he wouldn't hear us skate. Nope. We each got one run, and then the neighbor showed his face, got supe pissed, didn't say anything, and stormed off. We had to bail. Hoss and I took another run and got grinds. We figured the guy might call it in as a robbery since he just glimpsed us and might not have known we were skating, and the cops would get there more quickly with guns drawn, so we got the fuck out.
Another Master Pools, and I don't know why this thing is loading some photos sideways.
More evidence.
Third pool we went to was another one close to home. The neighbors were watching us scope it over the fence, so I approached and said we were there to clean the stagnant water, but didn't have keys for the gate. "Have you noticed more mosquitoes around at night?" I asked. Of course they had. "Why don't you just jump the fence?" she answered. So we did. No time to ride, but a buttery left side wall. They had drilled holes in the flat -- they do this for when they plan to fill them in so that the water will drain and not collect. They never filled it, however, and there were plants growing through the holes. We'll come back for this one.
Got the starter fixed in Meg's SR250. Was ready to put this engine cover back on when I noticed that it's also got the oil filter, so I might as well wait and get them both done at the same time.

Evidence LIX: Two quickies

Knee problems had me keeping it on the down low for a little while, hence the lack of much evidence. That being said, still cruised around the Cowtown Ramp a few times, trying to get some shred going. Got a couple cell phone photos of some brand nubians, and Thursday was the appointed day. The crew was gathered, and yet once again we found ourselves waiting for the Dickman. An executive decision came down: Jesse, Hoss and me would bucket the aquapool, and meet Court and Dickborg at the second. The previous day's storm left a few inches of clean rainwater and spackled dust on the pools, and a little work is all it takes to have some fun.

The evidence continues to mount.

Dickborg in the second one. Jesse, Hoss and I bailed the first and took a few runs, but those guys were anxious to get to the second one since they'd already skated aquapool. I hadn't so I skated the whole time and took no photos. Don't have a sad -- we went back!

Jesse powers through pool #2.

Court lays it down.

Back to aquapool with the light fading, Dickborg get's a FSG.

Skipped the evidence the first time, got it on the second go 'round.
Hoss find the abrupt ending to the line over the ladder.

Dickborg goes rat-a-tat-tat with a fontside grinder on the gnartile.

Havasupai Trip!

Maureen (fourth from left) organized a trip to Havasupai Falls for her B-day. Many people talked a good game, but it was us 8 who showed for the 10+ mile hike to the campground. From left, Tom, Korbi, Dana, Maureen, Meg, Me, Laura, Alison.

This thing looked like a whale coming out of the rock. Or maybe it was the peyote talking.

8 miles of this to the town of Supai.

Upper falls -- note dude jumping.

Meg, on the way to Mooney Falls.

Writing says: "No farting and lighting them. Joints OK."

tom and Korbi at the base of the falls.

Huge natural grape fields.

Look closely. This is the path down to and back up from Mooney Falls.

Me and the Mrs. at Beaver Falls.
The crew on our final and most relaxed day.
This was our start and our finish. Amazing time. Without a doubt for me the most beautiful place I've been in Arizona. Much worth the hike. Thanks to Maureen and all!
