CB 160 ad!

Killer CB160 ad from 1965. Below, a bloggette with my CB160 from the Love Cycles party last year. Good news: Jeremiah found a new spot, so party is on again this year!

My back and neck are killing me. I think I'm gonna headbang to the Ramones to loosen 'em up.

Demolition Derby 2011

Every year, try to go to the state fair's demolition derby. This time, all of the action was on one day, and the place was packed. Got there 45 minutes early and still hard to get good seats, but we managed. Since beers are $8, I snuck in a flask of rum, and since I had teetotalers sitting on either side of me, I downed it all myself. Funny to see it start when the sun is still up.

This young couple got married at the derby!

Aftermath of an early round.

The finals were insane. About 25 cars going at it. Lasted a good half an hour. Crunching metal, exhaust fumes, flames and smoke.

Shrigley was hyped.

Damn video doesn't want to upload, I am gonna try to work it out.

Suzuki runs, new pipes and seat on the CB350F

This is the Cowtown Skateboards 1969 Suzuki TC200. Took me a while to get to it, then took me a while to get it going. Fired up for the first time Saturday. Ripping two-stroke, went through all the gears, this thing is going to shred. Wired up headlight and tail light today. It's got the side covers and seat, and will look bitchin' when back together.

Brock at Hedkase Cycles hooked up my exhaust and seat bump. Lookin' killer. Worked on the float height, hopefully got it right this time. Covering the seat, and thinking about the next phases: motor rebuild, paint, and powder coat the frame. Rebuilt the petcock today too, and working on rebuilding a master cylinder for my other 350F -- got an old body for it thst was seized. The solution? Soak it in CLR for about 3 days.

Evidence XXXIV: Watch for widows

Back to this one for a quick shred session with Hoss and Brad. We discovered where all of the black widow webs in the shallow end were coming from: about a dozen black widows tucked up under the tile coping -- essentially where we put our hands before or during a run. Brad ate some shit, we made it a quick one. We had demolition derby to get to, after all.

Evidence XXXIII: Polished a turd

Got back to the pool we drained the other day, with the nosy neighbor. It wound up being kinda kinky, with a weird right hand wall. A couple runs ito the session, neighbor on the other side starts playing with kid on the swing -- time to wrap it up. Everyone grinded, and we were out.

Crazy old house, huge overgrown backyard, very old school Phoenix, with a kink sink in the back thast had slate deck for coping. Not worth bucketing, but I've always liked the 20th Century Pools logo, especially since we're in the 21st century. Apparently Hoss and B-Rad like it too.

Hoss spotted this one, but when we got there the hose was in it and they were filling it up. We asked thee kids lived there when we walked up if we could skate, and they said it was too steep because they are street skaters. ?????!!!!

Evidence XXXII: Sometimes part of skating pools...

Sometimes part of skating pools is draining them but not being able to skate them -- then and there. Hoss got a tip on this one, a friend of his grew up in the house, and said it was empty and vacant. We had the name of the previous resident, so that was our first excuse. As we were bucketing, a nosy neighbor poked his head over the fence, and off the bat asked "Are you guys the mosquito patrol?" This is our usual response to people asking what we're doing, but this guy just handed it to us. We were a little unprepared for some of his follow up questions: "How'd you get the job?" "I'm looking to do something like this, some landsdcaping work, who do I call?" Still, he left us alone to clean -- about 8 inches of clear water with some scum at the bottom. I killed about 30 mosquitos when we were done, but it wasn't going to be dry before dark -- and it was slippery. We decided to do some more scoping.

We are all victims of the digital age.

Pool #2, rough and tumble.

Pool #3, old lady names Viola lives here, she's going to ask her son, but we might be able to skate. Looks killer.

Dumper up the street.

run down meth apartments, the guard dog ran away when I got close to the gate. Gonna keep our eyes on this one.

For the record, the most mosquitos I've killed in one go was on a research trip to Sumba, Indonesia. It's an area infested with malaria, and I've had it four times, so I try to be careful as they seem to like me. So I sprayed this gnarly chemical mosquito killer in my room, closed the door, and left for 2 hours. Came back and there were 130+ dead mosquitos in my room. Wound up getting malaria in Sumba again, but in a different own. Pictures from this trip are at: http://megandwez.multiply.com/photos

Evidence XXXI: More Blagging

Back for a quickie at one close to home. The neighbors across the street don't care, so when we saw him we waved. The one next door has been a pain, though, but this time his son came out, said he didn't care, and watched.

Joe Dirt is back in town, smashed the D-Box B-side first or second run, but wouldn't do it again -- "That don't count, it's backside." Hucking up big F-side airs, but didn't roll outta one; next time.

Courtney cruncher.
Dickbird flew in for a frontside as well.

SCoped another one, but it was populated (See yesterday's adventure). So we hit the beehive, where the shallow end was he scene of most of the action. Butters B-Rad Boardslide.

Joe gettin' dirty.

B-Rad once more.

Dickman hucks a F-side.

Hoss gets his backside as well.

Evidence XXX: Blagging -- Lagging on Blogging

Been scoping this one for a few, as have several others. Hoss, Josh and I hit it first, a quick 5-minute session a week or so ago. Tenants are moving out, but it was clear they were still there. Went back on Saturday, and it was clear they were still there, but making inroads in moving. Still, we could see a laptop plugged in in the window and shit, but no cars, so we barged for about 20 minutes. Hopefully they will be all the way out soon.

Sean got b-side death second or third run.

Took him a few more times to get the stairs. This thing is going to open up once we get the diving board out of the way.

Goochman got a hold of Hoss through the interwebs and invited us over. Cancerous, steep, huge loaf coping. Hoss and Sean grinded while Brad and I tried to recover from the dust storm.

Evidence.

This is what the loaf coping did to Sean's wheel.

After that, we scoped a third, a permission pool we got turned on to by a friend. When I saw it, I said, "This would be a good one to swim in." Crazy bank-to-wall tranny to quick over vert, minimal tranny, but definietly player status with killer tile work, and a regal fountain. This pool was shaped like opposing testicles.

Evidence XXIX: In for a quickie

Quick session with Hoss and B-Rad. Low fence and weather getting nicer means civilians aplently walking and driving around. Got spooked, so we only got about 10 runs each. That's a quick fix, but a fix is a fix.

B-Rad on the frontside duties.

Scoped a couple on the way out. Steep and deep and huge loaf cool deck. A pass.

Killer tile lip and nice shape, super cancerous in the bottom. Likely a pass, but you never know.
