Tunes for a moto weekend

Trying to get some moto work done this weekend. Mounting up that CB400F engine, bleeding Laura's brakes, and a tune up on Trent's CB550. Need some killer tunes to stoke the session...

Dorothy Berry cut a few tracks in her day, but also sang as a Raelette with Ray Charles (but who didn't, right?). Her husband was Richard Berry, the guy who penned "Louie, Louie" (but didn't see much from it). They recorded a duet, "TheWorld Needs Peace," in the early 1980s. This track came out as a single, but goddam, it goes for big bucks. I found it on the out-of-print compilation LP "Shakin' Fit" for ten bucks (but I've seen those comps go for $30 or more!). Killer tune.

Thank you sir, how about another? Judy Clay, killer tune (on Flying witch Records!): "Upset my Heart." Put this on a recent comp I made. Another killer soul singer who cut her teeth singing gospel in the South, she recorded a few tacks on Stax and did some duets with Billy Vera. As the nation's first racially integrated duo, they had a top-20 hit with "Storybook Children" (kind of a sappy stinker if you ask me...) but were denied a spot to sing on television because they were interacial -- Nancy Sinatra did it instead (that honky bitch!). Guess who she sang with for a while? Yep... Ray Charles. Why not another killer Northern Soul track to boot -- "You Busted My Mind"? Happy weekend!
