Evidence CVI: In Search of a Super Bowl

There are a few days out of the year where bowl hunting or skating high profile spots is simply easier to get away with. Super Bowl Sunday is one of those days. Science, Craig and I headed out on the mission, going to a high profile but killer bowl that we've skated in the past. We had used the electric pump there before, and since it had been raining in Phoenix we figured we'd have to use it again. Got there, got it all set up, but the electricity was turned off, apparently (although the meter was running?). They had painted the interior of the house -- and it's now on the market -- and the doors were wide open, but going inside a house to plug in a cord is one step further than just draining the pool. We bagged it -- too much to bucket with three. We had a second spot in mind, but figured we'd meander a bit and look around on the way back. We had a couple nibbles, and then found the pool above: blue fibreglass, empty house, in the shape of a football. How appropriate. Bummer of the deal: minimal tranny, and a foot of water. We would have skated it if it was dry, but we pressed on, in search of the elusive super bowl.
Craig packing up the pump after not finding a spark.
The evidence, however, remains.
So we settled for an old standby. The surface has been patched several times, it gets rough again with some chunks that would take you out. Good part about this pool is that there is never more than a few buckets worth of water as the cracks in the sruface allow rainwater to drain. Craig handles a BSG.
Science takes the nose grabbing approach to a FSG -- note the slick mud in the bottom, it never dried.
The infamous light-after-death shallow pocket.
Evidence remains at this spot too. My apologies to Craig and Science, I was really half-stepping that day. Got my grind though.
Bonus photo: The day before was the last session at the Cowtown Ramp at the Foundry. Bank is taking over, hopefully the ramp will be moved. Science Fair, huge FS Boneless as the sun sets.
